The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Manufacturing Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Leading a team of 20-25 production associates in producing one of 3M’s most iconic brand Post-It®!
  • Being responsible for the day to day operations of a production area which may be on a rotating shift basis. Provide direct supervision to production and/or hourly employees such as operators. Plans daily work schedules, determines priorities, allocates work assignments, and regulates production process in order to meet specific daily production requirements. Evaluates employee performance and provides necessary feedback. Utilizes corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Providing appropriate training and instructions to employees on standard and new operating procedures. Review, update and communicate product standards. Ensure a safe working environment through formal inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment. Ensure employees receive training as specified. Provide effective communication to employees through crew meetings, electronic mail, etc. Complete housekeeping audits and job safety analysis on a regular basis. Participate in the site emergency squad activities.
  • Monitoring production rates, yields, and quality of products on a daily basis and provides feedback to employees on results. Organize and review changeovers with appropriate staff to minimize downtime. Address production issues such as scheduling, quality, run time, etc. May make process suggestions to improve quality and reduce costs. Implement cost reduction programs to ensure the efficient utilization of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Apply working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and plant policies and procedures. Handle shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc. Prepare and analyze production indices for reporting purposes. Monitor and project material usage to ensure adequate supply.
Company Vehicle
This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position (if applicable)
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Current, Valid Driver’s license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position (if applicable)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
  • Leadership, communication, problem solving, mechanical, computer, administrative, and short-term planning skills
  • Knowledge of material flow and process equipment such as film lines, coaters, slitters, and packaging centers
  • Participation in and understanding of safety programs in a manufacturing environment
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
