Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, is responsible for supporting all facets of Wagner product development through manufacturing process design & execution and improving manufacturing and business processes by studying and analyzing product, labor, workflow and manufacturing methods.

  • Liaison for product/part development, manufacturing methods, processes and capabilities within Wagner.
  • Seek out product manufacturing improvements to include current and new processes, machinery and tooling.
  • Establish new and improve process standards, documentation and training to Wagner and ISO standards & requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing methods and routing operations utilizing most efficient processes that optimize both manufacturing cost and quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on process and methods of manufactured products and components to decrease time & cost and increase efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Research and investigate latest technologies and make recommendations for process and machinery improvements to include capital purchases. Aptitude to question the status quo.
  • Aid in developing machine specific operator training and facilitation.
  • Support quality control objectives to resolve issues and delays in production and maximize process and product reliability.
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in a team environment.
  • Actively employ lean manufacturing practices of root cause analysis, work flow and balance, and 5S.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of four-year degree with a focus in Engineering or related field, or 10 years previous work as a manufacturing engineer or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of current metal industry fabrication methods and component manufacturing processes, equipment and standards.
  • TIG & MIG welding experience and working knowledge of industry standards.
  • Lean certified and/or experience with lean practices and culture.
  • Experience with metal stamping and pipe bending process and equipment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CO2 and fiber laser technologies & programming a plus.
  • Familiarity in metalwork CNC turning and milling processes. Experience with Haas and Milltronic machine controls a plus.
