Air Industries Group - Complex Machining Sector is an aerospace manufacturing company located in Long Island, NY. Air Industries Group – Complex Machining Sector produces critical machined components and assemblies fabricated from hard metals, such as Inconel, titanium and 300M. Our product lines also include intricate mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.

Position Summary:

The following job description represents a multi-skilled job classification. This multi-skilled job classification includes the skills of an Engineer within the Manufacturing Engineering Department. The qualified employee must possess a minimum of the following listed skills. In addition the following are the minimum knowledge, skills and competency requirements necessary for this position subsequent to completing the introductory/probationary period. The knowledge and skill requirements are listed below for the entire job classification. The functions of an Engineer within the Manufacturing Engineering Department will be performed under supervision of the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Prepare estimates of production times, labor requirements, equipment, materials and related costs to provide information for management decision.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, preferably Catia V5, to create 3D models from 2D drawings and draw up manufacturing plans.
  • Generate CAD drawings and product structures to accurately match and clearly communicate customer requirements.
  • Develop design models & templates
  • Define manufacturing tolerances
  • Resolve problems utilizing acquired knowledge and analytical abilities
  • Communicate with all co-workers and shifts
  • Clean and maintain a safe work area
  • Complete all tasks assigned by direct supervisor
  • Support shop and subcontractors regarding engineering concerns.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 Years Manufacturing Engineering related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking, and communication skills are a must.
  • Previous work experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work with an ERP system is a must. (Organization is currently working with Vantage by Epicor).
  • Clearly understands the rationale for why processes must follow certain criteria and procedures.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 is a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills are a must.
  • Can identify multiple projects and prioritize them in order to meet required deadlines.
