Basic Purpose

To prioritize, plan, organize, and execute full lifecycle project management for large scale, multi-dimensional initiatives. Improve internal processes and capabilities to reduce costs relative to income and react effectively to memberships/market needs. Serves as business data trustee for the department responsible for leading data-related activities, managing access controls and record retention schedule, and monitoring governance measures.

Responsibilities

1. Manages and prioritizes project activities affecting operations, specifically division goals, projects, automated systems, processes and procedures to ensure they meet business goals.
  • Provides strategic direction and guidance on all aspects of projects; collaborates and coordinates with management and other Navy Federal business areas to identify and propose new project initiatives
  • Oversees development of project definition, charter, scope, requirements, and business stakeholders; communicates key constraints or scope changes to affected areas
  • Prioritizes and schedules projects & initiatives per Division goals
  • Ensures completeness of business and functional requirements through the development and analysis of business process maps, use cases, reporting requirements, impact analyses, processes, and procedures; assists in the identification and communication of discrepancies and errors in functionality
  • Identifies prospective solutions; oversees vendor RFI/RFP and contract activities ensuring completeness of business requirements and delivery expectations
  • Serves as liaison with ISD on current and planned projects; reviews and adjusts work priorities to accommodate project requirements
  • Allocates and oversees resources in support of planned initiatives; assigns project managers and project team members
  • Receives guidance from department business data owner and guides actions of department business data stewards

2. Directs the monitoring and evaluation of processes to provide the member experience and ensure maximum functionality and efficiency.
  • Oversees projects and initiatives designed to improve the efficiency of automated systems and internal processes and capabilities
  • Formulates, analyzes, and modifies policies, procedures and methods to ensure continuous operations and improve efficiency and quality member service
  • Performs regularly scheduled and as-needed operations audits noting procedural, member service, and other operational deficiencies or vulnerabilities
  • Leads/facilitates meetings with business owners to review incidents and potential future issues
  • Recommends technical and functional solutions to requirements and develops metrics to measure the effectiveness of said solutions
  • Communicates Change Management service procedures and working practices and changes to internal standards, processes, procedures and technology
  • Reviews, ideas, suggestions, recommendations from employees and or members for merit and project consideration
  • Coordinate inter-process releases with other process owners

3. Performs managerial duties.
  • Selects employees, conducts performance appraisals, counsels, schedules work assignments, trains and develops employees
  • Establishes short and long-term goals and priorities based upon Navy Federal’s business needs, annual financial and long range plans
  • Reviews and approves work of staff; ensures adherence to operational requirements and other policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Using statistical data, makes budgetary recommendations regarding equipment and staffing needs

4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Extensive experience managing complex full life-cycle projects or teams to include cost/resource/time estimation
  • Experience which includes performing investigative analysis and development work that demonstrates the ability to use and interpret regulations, specifications, instructions, procedures and policies
  • Proficiency in statistical methods, mathematical techniques, and related analytical tools including forecasting and cost benefit analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of other participants in the project or task
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience demonstrating a high level of ability to gather and analyze facts and figures
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to persuasively, clearly, and diplomatically communicate, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of management and to external entities
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with PC applications

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as business administration or business management
  • Working knowledge of project life cycle and or project management experience
  • Familiarity with business strategies, business models, lean principles, six sigma
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal and NCUA policies, instructions and regulations
  • Familiarity with Navy Federal's Project Management Portfolio
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal's systems

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Salary Range: $134,300 - $187,900 annually

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
