The Distribution Manager is an integral part of the Solta Medical facility and will manage a team of 10 warehouse employees for local receiving, storing, material handling, and shipping. You will be responsible for cost management, quality, and production reporting. The right candidate will be a hands-on leader who can multitask , understands warehouse management , and can manage a team effectively. As Distribution Manager you represent distribution and logistics in daily cross functional (production, procurement, planning, quality, manufacturing engineering, etc.) supply demand meetings, ensuring timely execution of material flow to incoming inspection and to production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- People Management: Hire and motivate staff; manage staff workload with data driven analysis and excel staffing models, sets goals, evaluates individuals’ performance, and provides coaching and professional development for direct reports.
- Inbound Material Flow: Supervise material handlers who process daily RMA receipts for servicing and indirect materials for corporate staff; Administer the receiving discrepancy process for speedy resolution; posts weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics on goals vs. actuals for this and all areas of responsibilities.
- Outbound Material Flow: Supervise internal shipping personnel’s execution daily shipments under a service level agreement of same day shipment after release of order for consumables and next business day for systems; assume primary accountability that all quarter end shipments are processed, such that whatever capacity required, is proactively managed and in place each quarter end; lead the resolution of shipment discrepancies and implements preventive action.
- Inventory Management: Monitor the material handling staff transacting receipts, cycle counts, kitting, and shipping; reconcile cycle count variances with fact based, root cause analysis; ensures facility is always audit ready (FDA, TUV, 5S, etc.); lead implementation of improvement projects.
- Global Corporate Distribution and Freight Management: Coordinate with Customer Service to ensure on time shipping and end customer deliveries are executed within expectations; manages recovery plans and root cause preventive action plans when expectations are not met; write corporate policies and standard operating procedures that govern all locations (Hayward, Washington state, and third party logistics providers); act as primary liaison with accounting, IT, and others regarding corporate distribution and freight processes.
- Budgetary/Financial: Manage the budget for the distribution and logistics functional area; responsible for monitoring and reporting of various financial metrics; review logistic courier costs to ensure appropriate fees are charged for customer shipments; review, analyze and make recommendations for logistic partners to maximize service levels and minimize costs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years people management experience in distribution and logistics
- Manufacturing, FDA device, industrial, aerospace, or a regulated industry REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Extensive knowledge and experience in lean material handling (5S, kan ban, back flushing, root cause analysis, etc.)
- Experience with export documentation and processesExcellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong MS Office and web conferencing skills
- APICS certification is preferred
