Summary: The Manager, Board and Governance is responsible for the governance functions and activities related to ASTHO’s Assembly of Members, Board of Directors, Executive Committee, policy committees, and standing committees.
Location: Remote
Anticipated salary: $74,000 Extended experience: up to $84,000 if experience exceeds expectations
Principal Functions:
- Manages the activities of the Board of Directors including, but not limited to, the development of agendas and meeting packets, conducting meeting follow-up as needed, preparing meeting minutes, tracking Board member terms of service, assisting with Board and Officer elections, and managing the member appointment process for all Board standing committees.
- Manages the activities of the Executive Committee including, but not limited to, the development of agendas and meeting packets, conducting meeting follow-up as needed, preparing meeting minutes, and tracking Executive Committee member terms of service.
- Manages the governance activities of the policy committees including conducting and tracking the annual appointment process.
- Manages the activities of the Assembly of Members, including agenda development and preparation, preparing meeting minutes, annual election management, and assisting with the policy statement proposal/development/voting process.
- Develops and maintains critical relationships with S/THOs, S/THO assistants, public health agency staff and affiliated organizations.
- Collaborates with staff across the organization and maintains ongoing communication with leadership.
- Monitors deadlines, prioritizes tasks, and ensures process steps are handled in proper sequence.
- Utilizes ASTHO’s membership database and other tools to manage member communications and provide a high level of customer service.
- Provides general support for the Executive Office for special projects, along with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3 years of managerial responsibility in governance and Board relations.
- Nonprofit governance experience required, resulting in demonstrated knowledge and understanding of association governance operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal diplomatically and discretely with confidential or sensitive situations and information.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
