With 685 beds, we are home to the only comprehensive Burn and Level I Trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. The 56,000 square-foot emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in California! We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand pediatric specialty care. Our hospital serves 2.5 million people within 9 counties, averaging a daily census of 641 patients. We're affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility; trained 3,000 Medical Doctor's to date plus continuous invests in research and training grants.

Responsibilities:
The Manager Ancillary Services-Skilled Nursing/Sub-Acute is accountable for coordinating, facilitating and integrating the daily provision of service. Responsible for the direction, supervision and evaluation of work performed by designated staff in accordance with established goals. Oversees unit operation, scheduling, position control and staffing. Supports performance improvement activities and assists the Director with the budget process.

Accountabilities

1. Coordinates and facilitates service area activities and overall functioning. Service areas to include, but not limited to, Respiratory Therapy, activities, Laundry Services, Social Services, Environmental Services, Health Information Management, and Business Office.
2. Establishes, maintains job specifications and descriptions for assigned personnel.
3. Participates in planning, decision making, policy formulation and annual budget planning at facility management meetings.
4. Directs, conducts the orientation of new employees according to regulations which includes but is not limited to, philosophy, objectives of care, resident rights, safety, infection control, policies and procedures of the facility.
5. Identifies necessary capital budget items for service areas.
6. Maintains and monitors service area targets vs. actual performance to meet operational goals. Reports budget variances to the Director in a timely manner.
7. Assists and encourages staff participation in problem identification, formulation of plans, initiation of corrective measures and evaluation of corrective measures.
8. Facilitates and educates staff in performing assigned tasks in compliance with CMC system policies. Assists Director with evaluation of service area outcomes. Facilitates system improvement through redesign goals and outcome targets.
9. Supports the implementation of changes related to the current health care environment. Facilitates staff awareness and involvement in PI activities.
10. Facilitates staff and management team communication. Facilitates and improves communication among service area members and linkages with other pathways. Monitors, evaluates and improves customer satisfaction.
11. Monitors patient billing activities and effectively resolves cases that require appeals of decisions from payor sources.
12. Exhibits genuine interest in and appreciation of adults at all stages of life and acts as an advocate for the residents of the facility.
13. Manages staffing, scheduling functions to achieve department objectives, cost effective staffing and productivity targets.
14. Directly responsible (with support from Human Resources) for employee engagement and people management processes including interviewing and selection, time and attendance approval, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations, employee development, employee retention, disciplinary actions and terminations.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field required
Experience
  • 2 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry or a healthcare setting required
