Program Description: LSNC is a settlement house (community center) that serves the educational, recreational and cultural needs and aspirations of the Lincoln Square community with a focus on the residents of Amsterdam Houses and the Amsterdam Addition. Programs include: early childhood, after school, teen and young adult programs, parent supports, and center and home-based services to older adults. In addition, we provide space for civic and cultural events and community gatherings.

Purpose of Position: To maintain the physical appearance and cleanliness of the site.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, some evening and possible weekends required.

Hourly Rate: $15.00

Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.

• Ensure maintenance and cleanliness throughout the building.

• Sweep and maintain cleanliness of entrances

• Turn on and maintain cleanliness of air-conditioning units or heaters

• Sweep and mop building including halls, classrooms, gym and office

• Room set ups for daily activities and special events

• Change trash liners and dispose of trash on a daily basis

• Clean all bathrooms daily and windows regularly

• Move furniture as needed

• Inventory, storage and organization of cleaning supplies

• Check all safety materials – Alarms, Exit signs, Outlets, etc and report if repairs are needed

• Participate in staff meetings and professional development

• Work with maintenance coordinator and site director to ensure all areas are in compliance with city regulations

• Secure facility, check all offices are closed and ensure lock-up of building at end of day

• Follow “cleaning schedule run”

• Respond to requests by program directors and coordinators

• Must be able to follow Covid-19 regulations as mandated by operating programs

• Other tasks as required

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• Strong communication skills and ability to work as a member of a team

• Must meet clearance requirements including Department of Education fingerprinting

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Knowledge of operation of buffer machine

• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs

• Ability to perform simple maintenance and repairs

Work Environment:

• Indoor, some outdoor
