Maintenance Tech I Job at Greene County General Hospital
Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Hospital buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs basic and skilled work with or without supervision including drywall, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Advanced knowledge of hand and power tools.
- May possess one or more certifications, licensure, or advanced systems knowledge.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.
- Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems with or without supervision.
- Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems (Building Automation Systems).
- Installs electrical wiring and equipment with or without supervision; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed. Basic knowledge of and ability to work with 3-phase electrical high voltage and low voltage. Electrical work to be done with standard safety precautions and Arc Flash precautions.
- Repairs electrical equipment and repairs receptacles and switches; may make repairs to refrigeration equipment with supervision.
- May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.
- Ability to install computer cable.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests, as required.
- Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures. Does so while adhering to safety and infection procedures while also filling out Infection Control Risk Assessment forms.
- Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal, as required. Must have the ability to use snow removal equipment.
- May work directly with contractors or suppliers for needed components and troubleshooting.
- Protects patient confidentiality in accordance with all HIPAA and privacy laws.
- Utilize safety measures such as not standing on tops of ladders and using harnesses, safety glasses, and hearing protection where applicable.
- Ensure that safety measure assessment is done using the SLAM method-Stop, Look, Assess, Manage.
- Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
- Work results meet facility and departmental requirements.
- Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
- Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; degree from technical school preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Valid Indiana Driver’s license in good standing required.
Experience: At least two years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair, required. Ability to interact well with employees at all levels of the organization. Excellent skills in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and plans. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
