The Maintenance Technician provides facilities support to the centers and offices; the Technician assesses the need for repair and decides the course of action to be completed either in house or by outside contractor. The Technician utilizes their trade skills to complete minor and major renovation projects and is able to do repairs to the facilities as well as meet with contractors to review scope of repair needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Respond to and validate center requests for repairs.
  • Assess needed repair and decide course of action to be either completed in house or by outside contractor.
  • Identify additional repairs needed even if not requested by center.
  • Perform repairs to centers to include plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring, HVAC, or general mechanical repair.
  • Meet with contractor on site to review scope of repairs needed
  • Monitor the completion of work by the contractor.
  • Communicate with the center or regional office regarding the status of the repair work.
  • Communicate with the Director regarding the nature of repairs required and obtain necessary approvals to perform the work.
  • Provide Customer Service at Center level and Regional Office
  • Ability to identify ADA compliant fixtures for repair
  • Ability to identify licensing compliant issues
  • Ability to identify playground safety issues

Education

The MINIMUM formal relevant education required by the position. Relevant experience/certifications in lieu of formal education will be considered.

  • High School Diploma
  • Trade/Skill certification preferred

Experience

The MINIMUM relevant experience necessary to qualify for the position. Experience in lieu of education is to be counted as part of formal Education and not as part of the required experience.

  • 3-5 years experience in general maintenance and repair
  • 1-2 years' experience of trade focus

Other Qualifications:

  • Fundamental knowledge of construction and general maintenance repair
  • Minimum computer skills to include Microsoft Office and email
  • Ability to identify ADA compliant fixtures for repair
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making
  • Must be flexible and able to multitask with changing schedules
  • Action oriented, positive attitude, and can do personality
  • Ability to pass live scan fingerprint clearance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Travel to centers within the region up to 80% of time
