Position Summary
This is semi-skilled work assembling, installing, replacing, repairing, coating and maintaining structures, equipment, fixtures, accessories and furniture across all maintenance trades.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Knowledge of general maintenance trades techniques, methods and procedures.
Skill in performing general maintenance trades functions.
Possess a valid State of Louisiana Class C driver license.
Ability to complete general maintenance trades duties and responsibilities.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly.
Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas.
Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.).
Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.
Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.
Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2. This position is a part of a Career Progression Group.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2 ) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Please refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab located at the top of the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
There is a Special Entrance Rate of $15.37 for the MR 1 and 17.60 for the MR2 per hour for this title, there is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be extended up dependent upon applicants’ qualifications.
