This is a position where the employee works under limited general supervision to perform a variety of maintenance duties. This position requires at least one of the major maintenance trades, including other responsibilities. Typical duties may include but would not be limited to those listed below.
Responsibilities
Perform various facilities maintenance tasks including:
- General knowledge in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, maintenance and/or repair to structures and equipment
- General carpentry, painting, cleaning, repairs or improvements to facility within compliance of code regulations
- Construction, repair or alterations to walls, roofs, office fixtures, etc.
- Conducts routine, periodic, or preventative maintenance tasks and/or inspections to determine the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
- Prepare reports and other duties, as required
Requirements
- Possesses the ability to perform work in one or more of the maintenance trades such as: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, and electrical.
- Must be willing to work with any equipment in the facility (including cleanroom and like environments which require smocks, gloves, bouffant etc.).
- Must be capable of lifting and/or handling heavy parts (30 pounds), material, or equipment and able to stand for extended periods of time while performing job duties.
- May be required to attend training which may be internally or externally provided.
- Must become forklift certified.
- Required to complete annual trainings for lockout/tagout, fall protection, and other safety related trainings as required.
- Uses hand and power tools
- Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and diagnoses repairs for supporting machines and equipment as required.
- Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
- Utilize a computerized management maintenance software (CMMS) system to perform tasks and status task completion.
- Use a computer for day-to-day activities such as labor recording, communication, and other software tools as may be required.
Education & Experience
- Requires the ability to apply knowledge normally gained through 3 to 5 years experience in at least one of the maintenance trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or machine maintenance).
- A 2-year post high school vocational training degree or equivalent desire
