JOB SUMMARY
The Variable Data Processor will complete tasks related to the accurate and timely completion of orders per customer specifications using a variety of desktop publishing equipment and integrated software packages. This may include receiving, evaluating, and modifying more complex customer files, and the training of new technicians on specific skills and procedures.
This position has direct and indirect responsibility to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of quality, safe processes, consistent standards and compliance with all appropriate legal requirements with a focus on continuous process improvement.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uses various desktop publishing and proprietary software packages to prepare customer files for printing. Sets up new projects to process through existing applications for USPS mail and static print projects.
  • Knowledge of mailing software such as CASS, NCOA, Presort, BCC Mail Manager, Mail.dat, Postal one Mail.dat client, InDesign, XMPie, Fox Pro, Excel and Access.
  • Reviews and manipulates client data files and customer data for integration to digital print job. Sorts, analyzes, and processes incoming/outgoing records, lists addresses.
  • Ability to troubleshoot both in process projects and production issues.
  • Build production files and proof for digital print area.
  • Able to read and interpret job tickets and ask questions as needed.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment while maintaining quality control.
  • Communicates order problems with supervisor, customer service representatives and sales staff.
  • Advises customer regarding format and technical issues for best quality printing.
  • Follows department procedures
  • Provides feedback and suggestions to supervisors about current or future workflow problems or needs.
  • Must be at work on time as scheduled. If needed, must be willing to work nights, weekends and overtime
  • Assists in training of new technicians
  • Comply with work and safety rules.
  • Other duties assigned
Basic Qualifications:
  • H.S. diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum required experience is 5 years related experience.
  • Requires a strong understanding of composition and prepress operations
  • Previous experience working for a Mail Service Provider preferred.
  • Strong Communication/analytical and organizational skills
