Machining Utility Operator Job at Elliott Company
Overview & Responsibilities
To set-up and operate various machines and to provide support for various machining cells.
Tools and Equipment Used: Radial drill press, spindle drill press, pedestal grinders, belt sanders, cutting saw, shot blasting unit, air drill, air gun, burring tools, tap disintegrator, hydraulic ram, drills, taps, reamers, gages, measuring devices, brushes, files, small hand tools, vices, hand trucks, hone and lap splits, dowels, studs, hand press, safety equipment, hydrotest equipment, cerrobin equipment, positioner, electrical or gas oven, etc.
Materials Used:
A variety of ferrous and non-ferrous material requiring fast service pertaining to various manufacturing and apparatus needs in a cellular environment.
Responsibilities
-
Receives instructions from supervision.

Works from drawings, sketches, work order books and verbal instructions.

Sets up and operates drill press by using required jigs and fixtures.

Cleans, deburrs, polishes, and grinds parts to produce acceptable size and specific finish.

Sets up and operates shot blasting unit. Operates tap disintegrator, as required.

Operates marvel saw to saw, cut material. Assembles and disassembles parts for own use.

Identifies finished parts with stencil or vibrating pencil. Operates abrasive wheel to cut small keys and small diameter parts.

Operates hand trucks, riding worksaver, wheelbarrow, jib crane, overhead crane, etc.

Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, materials and equipment in proper place.

Runs errands, as required.

Performs hydrotest operations as required.

Pours and/or melts cerrobin as required.

Observes all safety rules.

Performs laboring assignments as required.

Uses oven as required to manufacture component parts.

Performs impregnation process from component parts as required.

Qualifications

Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able and willing to work 1st shift (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.), 2nd shift (3 p.m. – 11 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.)

One year related experience preferred.
