Machine Operator - Tube Mill Production
Position Summary:
The Tube Mill operation will have 4 essential job stations. Employees of the Tube Mill operation will be cross trained in every station. Due to changes in tube size, tooling switch out will need to occur every other day with production running the days in between.
1. Steel band welding station - splicing and re-welding coils when it runs out (this is an automatic process).
2. Slag - the machine will be sheering/scarfing the metal. Employees will have to pay close attention to the detail and may need to make adjustments as needed to ensure quality control.
3. Saw operation /size control- this includes a cooling trough and the process of turning tube from circular to square.
4. Bundling - the pipes will go through the packaging process for storage via overhead crane operation.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Become familiar with all facets of the Tube Mill department which includes, but is not limited to, splicing, welding, saw operation, bundling, crane operation, and tool changes
2. Produce quality parts to meet customer deadlines and requirements
3. Be productive in a team setting
4. Troubleshooting - determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
5. Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
6. Tooling change outs
Non-Essential Responsibilities:
1. Shovel, sweep, or otherwise clean work areas
2. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
3. Performing other duties as assigned
4. Discard scrap metal
Education & Experience:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Prior machine operator
3. Mechanical aptitude
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes
2. Ability to stand for 8+ hours a day
3. Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $16.01 per hour
