Long Term Care RN Night Shift (New Grads Welcome) Job at Boulder City Hospital
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Long Term Care Registered Nurse executes comprehensive nursing care activities and provides nursing staff leadership. He/she assesses patient needs, plans and implements patient care activities, and evaluates the patient’s response to treatment. He/she manages activities within the therapeutic milieu and directs the delivery of nursing care by other members of the nursing treatment team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Completes position responsibilities following established guidelines & protocols within the appropriate time frame.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Maintains education and development appropriate for position.
2. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment.
3. Uses protective equipment appropriately, as prescribed by policy.
4. Knowledgeable in, and follows department policies as prescribed.
5. An active participant in department meetings, providing positive suggestions and input.
6. Assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development.
7. Designs, implements, and evaluates bladder and bowel training programs and patient’s response.
8. Demonstrates ability to perform complex tasks such as phlebotomy, IV insertion/maintenance, and central line maintenance.
9. Carries out rehabilitation specific procedures utilizing therapeutic techniques for transfers, ADLs, feeding and communication, etc.
10. Documents continuous assessment, interventions and evaluations relative to patient progress.
11. Assists in emergency care if necessary.
12. Utilizes universal precautions at all times to prevent spread of infection. Uses good hand hygiene.
13. Evaluates patients for fall risk and implements treatment plan as needed.
14. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and updates daily.
15. Exercises competence in the effective and safe use of all equipment.
16. Assures that Lab, x-rays, etc. are completed and notifies attending physician of abnormal results.
17. Assures that Patient Rights are upheld. Ensures patient dignity and respects patient values.
18. Check, pour, administer and chart medications at appropriate times, monitor effects and side effects. Educates patients on medications and new medications. Follows hospital policy on medication administration and control substances.
20. Completes CQI + +timely and accurate submission of CQI+ outcome data on a weekly basis including responsiveness to weekly feedback.
21. Educates patients/significant other/family in disease process and documentation of all patient/significant other/family education.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
2. Two (2) years of experience in a health care delivery system is preferred.
3. Current Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
4. Current CPR (basic life support) Certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00 - $40.80 per hour
