ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for assisting the day-to-day operations of branches and jobsites by providing support and coordination of logistics and services to meet customer needs and project deadlines. The Logistics Specialist owns delivery communications with the warehouse, drivers, and project teams.

  • Processes and completes logistics requests.
  • Provides coordination, tracking, and planning for incoming and outbound freight with preferred vendors and third-party services.
  • Updates and schedules the delivery calendar for jobsite deliveries.
  • Calls ahead to jobsite locations to verify delivery requirements, dates, point of contacts, etc.
  • Communicates, documents, and tracks scheduled dates and changes with project team.
  • Creates appropriate Bill of Lading.
  • Works with purchasing and warehouse staff to stage material, load trucks for delivery, and ship the material.
  • Cancels tickets and coordinates with project team as requested.
  • Works in a safe manner and follows Hunt Electric safety program guidelines and policies.
  • Coordinates third party couriers when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Previous experience with logistics or a related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with all modes and methods of transportation.
  • College degree in Logistics or a related field preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates a flexible and collaborative work style.
  • Demonstrated success in working with immediate team members and other departments to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt, multi-task and manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Negotiation skills or experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This job operates in a warehouse environment and is exposed to weather conditions.
  • Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
  • This position requires the ability, and bend or stand as necessary, for up to a 10 hour shift.
  • This position requires the ability to regularly move and/or lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Hard toe boots are required.
