About Us
As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. Our broad range of services includes various aspects of the ongoing operations and maintenance of all County-owned facilities, management of all facility projects, and in-house design services.

We Require
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of commercial locksmith experience
  • Completion of an industry-recognized locksmith apprenticeship program may substitute for up to 2 years of experience requirement
We Also Value
  • Experience as a locksmith in a correctional facility
  • Experience with Maximo or related project management software products
Job Contributions
  • Maintain the installation and repair of door locking hardware and closures, electronic door systems, door frames, hinges, doors, panic hardware, mortise locks, and ADA hardware
  • Perform preventative maintenance of all mechanical and electronic-based access control hardware and equipment
  • Repair and install different types of detention-locking security hardware
  • Create and maintain master keying systems for detention and commercial applications (set-up and re-keying, duplication, and cut to code)
  • Respond to repair and service calls during and after work hours
  • Operate computers and mobile devices for time management, inventory, work assignments, and other related functions
Working Conditions
  • Work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, and grasp including fine manipulation
  • May be exposed to various forms of hazardous energy sources relating to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • May work in jail environments and confined areas with high noise levels, dim lighting, dust or smoke, potential contagious diseases, and traumatic subject matter
  • Frequently required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
  • This position may require a rotating on-call or standby schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Work environments include adult and juvenile detention facilities, medical facilities, public health, forensics, courts, and related justice facilities
