About the Role
First PREMIER Bank is looking to add a Loan Review Officer to our Internal Audit Team. The Internal Audit Department performs and is responsible for the independent loan review function, which reviews the safety and soundness of lending practices, tests key financial controls to help ensure compliance with FDICIA, and adherence to higher-risk regulations. Loan review includes the review of Ag, Business, Retail, Private, Mortgage and/or Indirect Loans.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for personal development and building relationships throughout the PREMIER organization and with key individuals in business units where assigned to conduct loan reviews
- Possess effective leadership and teamwork skills
- Perform loan review functions from pulling reports and sampling information to performing loan reviews and communicating results
- Will execute loan review assignments independently in support of department objectives and strategy
- Perform loan review procedures and prepare acceptable work papers/line sheets, which record and summarize the loan reviewed and adequately support conclusions
- Exercise judgment, discretion, and attention to detail in documenting loan review results and in analyzing results that support conclusions
- Document potential loan review findings when exceptions are identified, taking into consideration the root cause of the issue, and provide a realistic recommendation for enhancing internal controls or efficiency of operations
- Completing assigned loan review work and project tasks in a timely and accurate manner
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a major/minor or emphasis in accounting, finance, business, or similar field required, or a relevant professional credential such as the BIA’s Certified Loan Review designation is a plus
- Prior experience in loan review, risk, compliance, &/or internal control related role is preferred
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in banking or financial organization
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new information
- Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in performance of loan reviews
