Miller Johnson, one of Michigan’s largest full-service law firms, is seeking an experienced full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to join our probate and estate planning practice group in our Kalamazoo office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating administrative and legal practice tasks and projects for assigned attorney
- Calendaring meetings, conference calls, new client intake, opening new client matters, billing activities, and client interaction
- Preparation of documents including: probate court filings, trust administration documentation, basic estate planning drafting.
- Direct communication with clients, accountants, investment advisors, as needed, to assist with estate and trust settlements.
- Management of docket dates and cases; preparation of real estate documents (Fiduciary deeds, PTA, PRE-Rescission).
- Notarizing and/or witnessing legal documents
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or certification from an accredited paralegal program
- Minimum 3 years of experience in probate and trust administration and/or providing legal assistance and support to an estate planning practice
- Advanced knowledge of probate court rules and procedures, laws, and regulations relating to probate and trust administration; Florida state knowledge preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and PDF creation
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication
- Exceptional client service skills, discretion, and judgment to ensure client confidentiality
- Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to think creatively to identify and implement proactive solutions
