Purpose

Manages the end-to-end process and administration of Roseburg leave of absence programs with a focus on a positive employee experience, accurate pay, compliance and continuous improvement. Oversees and manages the administration, compliance, and support for all leave of absence cases. Ensures program compliance and case management with all related employment and leave laws. Provides direction and oversight to the Leave Coordinator.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as expert resource and provide internal training for Company on related federal and state law, Company leave policy, and relevant internal and external leave pay programs
  • Interpret and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.)
  • Develop, maintain, and provide education on Company policies and processes on accurate and effective administration of all aspects of leave programs
  • Provide additional direction to Leave Coordinator and HR as needed in the approval and/or denial of leave cases based on relevant medical information
  • Ensure leave program compliance with HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines
  • Develop and maintain processes and guidance for team members to ensure that all relevant documentation is submitted for timely review
  • Report and manage metrics and analytics for all leave cases. Present data to relevant stakeholders as needed
  • Review and resolve complex escalated employee issues related to leave management and programs
  • Partner with HR on leave cases requiring accommodations and/or HR actions/decisions. Participate with Employee relations in the interactive process during the return to work process
  • Coordinate with internal UKG WorkForce Ready team to ensure the system set up (accrual buckets, waiting periods, request forms, etc) accurately reflects Company policy, legally required entitlements, and current process
  • Stay up to date with evolving legal requirements at the federal, state, and local level
  • Manages STD/LTD programs in conjunction with the benefits team. Ensures that all disability claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases
  • Manages the need, creation, and facilitation of leave administration policies, programs, and guidance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field (or any equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Five years of professional experience in human resources which includes at least two (2) years’ experience in a management position related to Human Resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of HR, Benefits, Leave Administration/Management or related experience.
  • PHR/SPHR Certification preferred
  • Experience in multiple state leave administration
  • Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus
