Position Summary:

The Lead Systems Administrator will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the ongoing operations of the all infrastructure components of a hosted datacenter, including responsibility for effectively provisioning, server installations, support and administration including: physical and virtual server setup, OS installations, automation, advanced troubleshooting, application level support and root cause analysis.

Works independently under general direction of Sr. IT Manager; expected to work as a senior member of an infrastructure team on a daily basis; possesses the ability to build consensus among team members; is highly organized; is able communicate regularly on project and task progress; responsible for resolving issues in a timely manner; must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Strong background in customer service and 24x7 support is a must and experience with software development is highly preferable.

Position Responsibilities- Other duties may be assigned:

• Responsible for the continued maintenance of systems including software installation, patch application, file-system management, monitor/tune performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
• 24/7 production support with on-call and off-hours maintenance activities.
• Lead the Winows infrastructure support team to meet operational goals and project timelines.
• Lead and/or assist project teams with technical issues in all phases of company's standards and best practices
• Understand the customer needs and provide timely support of production issues.
• Propose technical solutions based on production issues.
• Comply with change control and release management policies and procedures.
• Budgeting for CAPEX and OPEX expenditures.
• Weekly reporting on defined metrics, project status and datacenter infrastructure.
• Provide coaching and mentoring for direct reports' leadership development and career advancement.
• Monitor individual employee's performance and provide timely performance feedback.
• This position has direct reports.

Position Requirements:

• BA/BS degree required, preferably in relevant technology field.
• Experience with Agile SDLC a plus.
• Advanced hands-on VMware knowledge, configuration, expansion, multi-datacenter support, vRops, vRealize a plus
• DELL server platform including vxRail
• Advanced Windows Active Directory knowledge and strong Linux skills
• Strong networking background, ability to troubleshoot and work with network team on issues when installing new hardware in the data center
• DELL SAN / NAS PowerStore and PowerScale knowledge and/or strong storage skills with similar hardware
• Knowledge working with appliance based backup solutions such as Unitrends
• 10 or more years of professional 24x7 systems maintenance experience in a Windows/Linux data center environment.
• Significant experience with Windows servers including demonstrated expertise in operating system installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
• Proven experience installing, supporting and troubleshooting Linux on various hardware makes/models as well as in virtualized environments.
• Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and server environments.
• Functional knowledge of modern network technologies such as routing, switching and structured cabling.
• Ability to write scripts to automate regular operational tasks in Python/Perl.
• Knowledge and experience with shell scripting in Bash.
• Experience with Ansible and/or Puppet for automation.
• Understanding of typical load balancing approaches and configuration, Firewall operation, including network and port translation troubleshooting.
• Expert knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere 4.1, 5, 5.5, 6 and vCenter 5, 5.5.
• Strong background in root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
• Experience in budgeting and return on investment calculations.
• Three plus years of project leadership experience (scope, plan, execute, leverage).
• Metrics development and reporting experience.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and comprehension
• Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about, or occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
