Position Summary

The Lead Quality Inspector’s duties include creating, revising, and auditing Standard Work Procedures (SWP), creating Job Books, creating One-Point-Lessons and Quality Alerts, supporting Kazien teams process documentation needs, supporting product inspection and receiving inspection activities, coordinating any sort and/or rework efforts as needed, maintaining quality department documentation, supporting data collection and department KPIs, and assisting with routine and unique quality or lab related special projects and testing.
The person in this position must be self-motivated, team-orientated, strong training, leadership, and people skills. Good mechanical aptitude, and communication skills verbally and specifically writing, computer proficiency. Has general knowledge of blueprints and can interpret product requirements, work in a frequently changing environment, have good problem-solving skills and a good technical aptitude.

Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Buckhorn policies and OSHA standards.
  • Creates new Standard Work Procedures (SWP) when necessary. Update SWPs as process changes arise. This includes taking pictures of a process, writing out each step, and reviewing draft with Quality and Operations.
  • Build Job Books or revise when necessary. Update SWPs, Quality Alerts, Forms, etc. when changes are made. Ensure that Job Books are ready for use at the line.
  • Work with the Operations Teams to create and update line layouts. Update SWPs and Job Books when line layout changes are made.
  • Create and distribute One-Point-Lessons / Quality Alerts.
  • Schedule & coordinate engineering requested lab testing as required.
  • Lead quality team across night shifts in the training, documentation, and correct lab testing methods for ALL types of testing.
  • Responsible for the 5S of the quality lab by training all quality team members in the 5S’s. Includes sustaining and improving the lab via 5S audits.
  • Perform and document Job Hazard Analysis of lab testing equipment and processes. Implement countermeasures where appropriate.
  • Support and assist the department and organization by capturing data and creating KPIs.
  • Lead and coordinate the sort and/or rework of product as needed.
  • Coordinate and complete special assignments.
  • Conduct Internal QMS Audits within 12 months of role starting.
  • Work to ensure and maintain ISO9001 quality requirements.
  • Maintain quality documentation in support of product validation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct first article audits.
  • Conduct final inspection of defected product.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); required
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer proficiency (Word & Excel); preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the ISO procedures; preferred
  • ISO 9001 internal auditor certified; or be willing to obtain certification within first twelve months in position
  • Ability to use, read, and interpret calipers, tape measure, weigh-scales, engineering lab test equipment, and other test and measuring equipment; required
  • 6 months or more production experience; preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively to employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to do two mathematical operations to arrive at the solution.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
