The Lead Health Records Technician works closely with providers, supervisors and other staff to ensure a timely and accurate response relating to the initiation of medical records, scanning of clinical information, records maintenance, records retention, requests for release of information, and other duties involved in maintaining clinical information in the electronic health record (CareLogic). The Lead Health Records Technician also provides implementation and technical support to programs and staff participating in Wilder’s EHR system including system troubleshooting and maintenance of document libraries and resources. Monitor and maintain the quality of all data handling processes, including appropriate data access, security and compliance with data privacy practices. Provide oversight in ensuring the data integrity of Wilder client health records and compliance with all regulatory aspects of healthcare data exchange, this includes electronic, paper, email, faxed and scanned sources of data in the client health record. Assist with quality assurance, quality review, and audit procedures. Prioritize daily workflow of the medical records office, supervise and provide training to other support staff as required.

Job Qualifications

AA degree in business administration, health care administration or related field required, BA degree in relevant area of study preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare administration, medical records and/or information technology, with 1 year supervisory experience preferred. Health Information Technology certificate or Electronic Health Record Specialist Certification (CEHRS) also preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security laws that govern medical records required. Must have a high level of computer literacy, strong business applications and data management skills, good analytical skills with close attention to detail, excellent organization and time management skills, and ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical information (verbally and in writing) to providers and support staff.

Other Information

Driver’s License only required – the essential functions of the job require driving a personal vehicle on a frequent basis. The incumbent(s) will not drive Foundation vehicles or clients.
