Laboratory Inventory Technician
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Inventory Technician to work across out lab teams and provide support ordering, maintaining, and distributing both our chemical and consumables inventories. This person maintains inventory accuracy for all chemicals, SDSs, and consumables used and stored in the laboratories.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading a culture of safety compliance, especially as it pertains to chemical inventory
- Receive, deliver, and put away of all Lab chemicals and supplies in an accurate and timely manner to appropriate labs
- Performs inventory management for the Lab teams. Evaluates the appropriate Min/Max levels, reviews Min/Max of the storeroom daily
- Orders chemicals and supplies for all labs
- Reviews all chemicals arriving on site to ensure SDS documents are in online system and chemical is stored appropriately
- Tracking of shipments, entry, and maintenance of shipping records
- Continuously keep track of equipment inventory
- Ability to write SOPs or SWIs as needed
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
- Managing the internal flow of raw material documentation & certificate creation
- Leading physical inventory audits, cycle counts, etc. to ensure inventory accuracy
- Developing and implementing cycle counts & root cause analysis to gather data to develop & improve training material
- Conducts inventory cycle count and physical inventory programs
- Compiles verifies, and reports daily and/or periodic statistical information aimed at detecting trends to improve and maintain the overall health of inventory
- Research variances to determine the appropriate root cause whether process or behavior and logs the information for operational review
- Ensures compliance with inventory processes and procedures as well as compliance with contractual obligations
- Maintains & communicates inventory accuracy (KPIS) or other metrics
- Other duties as required and assigned
Desired Qualifications:
- BS in Chemistry, Engineering, Biochemistry, Supply Chain, or related fields encouraged but not required
- 1-2 years' experience in inventory management, supply chain, or professional laboratory setting preferred
- High degree of organization and excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to meet timelines
- Knowledge and understanding of SDS documents, chemical storing, and chemical handling
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques and practices
- Proficiency with software (including Word and Excel) is a strong plus
- Must be comfortable lifting up to 50lbs (handling dry ice shipments)
- Must be comfortable moving gas cylinders
- Must be comfortable being on their feet or sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours per day
- Experience operating a forklift
- Leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated safety track record
- Willingness to contribute at all levels of the organization
- Must have a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
- A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel
- Candidate must have strong organization skills and be able to balance multiple tasks at once
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
