Position Title: Lab Supervisor
Location: Green River, WY

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee Lab operation
• Accountable for performance measurements for the team
• Department safety action plan and safety results
• MSHA requirements and general lab safety
• People development
• Administration of labor contract
• Backfill for Quality Coordinator
• Area budget, including capital spending
• KPI data
• Work to improve communication with supply chain
• Laboratory analytical methods
• Oversee Lab ISO 9000 system

Activities:

• Coordinate work effort of lab personnel
• Coordinate manpower requirements in their area
• Provide training
• Communicate with plants over quality and testing issues
• Facilitate implementation of team safety action plan and oversees development of plan
• Conduct safety and housekeeping audits / behavior audits
• Develop and maintain training plan and records
• Schedule and conduct safety meetings
• Supervise Methods Chemist
• Interact with customers as needed
• Makes sure that analysis being run are appropriate
• Coordination with plant for new product development testing
• Coordination of daily process testing needs
• Coordination of special projects testing needs
• Work to improve communication with supply chain
• Final product approval of bicarb batches
• Coordinate lab building maintenance
• Coordinate housekeeping of lab facility
• Ensure calibration models and curves are correct
• Support ISO 9000 efforts
• Support food safety efforts in the sodium bicarbonate production areas
• Serve as a member of the Food Safety Team
• Support Product Withdrawal/Recall/Recovery (CAC member)
• Support Responsible Care Coordinator

Skill, Capability, and Educational Requirements:

• B.S. in Chemistry required; emphasis in analytical chemistry preferred
• 3-5 years supervisory experience
• Quality Assurance/Quality Control Lab experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership capability
• SAP or Oracle experience preferred
• Experience in high volume commodity and specialty chemical operations, specifically experience with lime, pot ash, soda ash, or similar alkaline products preferred.
• Experience in FDA regulated manufacturing preferred

Final determination on pay grade will be made by HR and company leadership considering the candidate’s education, experience, past performance, demonstrated leadership and influence.
