Wellhaven Pet Health Coon Rapids is an AAHA accredited and state-of-the-art clinic that was built in 2018 and we are at the forefront of veterinary care and we are seeking an exceptional Kennel Assistant to join our family!

We pride ourselves on being an AAHA-accredited hospital and we also have a Fear Free certified staff that utilizes techniques that provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for the staff, the clients, and especially the patients. Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for delegated tasks provided by the veterinary technician, practice manager, or veterinarian
  • Responsible for patient cleanliness and care including walking outside, offering food/water as directed by a veterinarian
  • Cleaning, wrapping, and sterilizing surgical packs and surgical suite
  • Ensure disinfection of all hospital kennels, surfaces, and flooring by hospital closing
  • Will work closely with the lead veterinary technician to improve and learn new skill sets including anesthesia, assisting with surgery and dentistry
  • Complete all hospital duties prior to the end of shift
  • Maintaining hospital equipment
  • Assists with maintaining/restocking hospital supplies
  • Expected to help with day to day hospital flow and efficiency
  • Initiative to learn new things
  • Advocate for hospital success
  • Excellent communication skills with team members
  • Adhere to OSHA standards and regulations as outlined by Wellhaven Pet Heath company policies
  • Responsible for some reception duties such as answering phone calls, making appointments, intake and discharging patients

Some of the requirements we are also looking for in a new hire include:

  • Someone who is reliable to show up on time to all of their scheduled shifts with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Someone who will be available to work 30-40 hours per week over the course of Monday through Saturdays
  • Someone who is a self-starter and will take initiative to get things done without asking.
  • Someone who will be thorough with their work and complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Someone who is looking for a long-term position with us with room for advancement depending on desire, skill set, and willingness to learn new things.
  • Someone who can be flexible with the location in which they are scheduled (we share team members between our two locations in Maple Grove and Coon Rapids)

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma in progress or equivalent
  • 6+ months of experience in the pet industry
  • Motivated and willing to learn new skill sets

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years veterinary hospital or animal shelter experience
  • Outgoing, driven, compassionate individual willing to adapt and learn new things and continue to develop their skillset

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs
  • Must be able to adapt to the work environment to include the pace of the day, pet waste, noise
  • Must be able to work up to 11-hour shifts, Saturdays, some minor holidays, and evenings
  • An employee is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
