Salary Range - $45,000 - $45,000


Program Description:

Youth Stand United (YSU) provides young people, ages 16 - 21, with a healing centered approach to take and pass their GED/TASC while obtaining Job Training and Career Guidance. We offer asset driven strategies to resolve trauma and to sustain a young person's well-being in one to one sessions and an inclusive group setting. We encourage young people to dream. Services include classroom instruction, work readiness and vocation planning, internships and job placement, 21st century skill building and case management.


Position Summary:

The Job Developer develops a network of employers to support the Adolescent Skill Center (ASC) employment efforts. They will identify potential labor markets that are appropriate for ACS youth and maintain frequent face-to-face contact with employers. Job developers promote and market the advantages of employing ASC youth and all relevant tax credit incentives to employers. Job developers also research industry and labor market trends, internet sources, newspapers, job boards, and conduct cold calls to identify job leads. Additionally, job developers maintain a database of jobs, hiring events, job fairs and an inventory of current and potential employers. Job developers also coordinate apprenticeships and other employment opportunities annually and are responsible for youth entrepreneurship development. Job Developers will also work closely with the vocation coordinator to facilitate group workshops.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individualized assessments and internship/employment placements
  • Conduct weekly group workshops with youth participants
  • Develop natural supports in the workplace
  • Create retention and transition strategies
  • Job coaching, financial literacy and benefits planning/management
  • Match youth with employment sites that are within their capabilities and employment interests
  • Shadow youth on a regular basis or until they are comfort able within the work environment
  • Assist with negotiating accommodations in the workplace, where needed
  • Maintain frequent communication with employers in order to provide necessary supports
  • Assess job performance and ensure continued development in accordance with the consistency of the youth's disclosure plan
  • Weekly collaboration and communication with the Vocation Coordinator regarding students placements and performance
  • Input monthly reports into APRICOT data system
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least two years of experience providing job development services to young adults.
  • Must have understanding of emotional and/or behavioral challenges as well as an understanding of mental health providers or programs.
  • Must have experience working with adolescents with a history of trauma, strong outreach and public speaking skills, creative and able to think outside the box, medium to strong computer skills
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in working with youth and families required
  • Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
