JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences is seeking an IT Consultant 2 to join their Information Technology team. The Huck Institutes IT team is a fast-paced, customer service-driven department that provides technology solutions for a diverse group of users.
Responsibilities of this position will include, but are not be limited to:
Customer Service and Support
- Provide exceptional customer service for all end users as defined in department performance expectations.
- Document every customer interaction in ServiceNow per department expectations.
- Follow department documentation for incident management process per department expectations.
- Ensure that incidents and requests are responded to in a timely manner as defined in SLAs.
- Oversee and provide follow-up for all incidents in ServiceNow that are awaiting action, to ensure end users receive exceptional service.
- Provide training and onboarding for new staff regarding Huck IT policies and processes.
Technology Consultation
- Coordinate efforts between research staff and University IT to find IT solutions to complex problems.
- Evaluate new technologies that have potential for streamlining processes.
- Communicate with non-technical staff relevant to IT related information.
- Collaborate with University IT and research staff to ensure all IT best practices are followed.
- Design and implement security plans for ensuring IT security.
Lead and Participate in Committees, Working Groups, and Project Teams
- Serve as a liaison with third party vendors and other units outside of Huck with regards to IT solutions.
- Lead Huck initiated IT projects that span multiple departments.
- Contribute to Huck initiatives focused on documentation and data collection.
- Conduct research and attend approved training, meetings, and conferences to gather knowledge and increase skills as applicable to unit needs and individual development plans.
This position will follow a hybrid model of working, with two days in-person and the opportunity to work remotely for three days of the week.
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree of higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment focused on achieving team productivity and customer satisfaction goals and expectations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Experience working on projects and excellent time management skills are also important. Knowledge of Penn State desktop management software is a plus (BigFix, JAMF/MDM, Code 42), basic and/or advanced knowledge of Windows OS, MacOS, MS Office 365, and computer hardware architecture preferred.
