JOB TITLE: Admissions/Intake Specialist
REPORTS TO: Operation Supervisor or On-call Supervisor
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
To support and facilitate a team approach at Gavin-Quincy, it is the expectation of all Gavin Foundation, Inc. staff to pitch in as needed for our clients benefit.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Work with a team comprised of medical and clinical professionals. The admissions/Intake specialist will assist with screening candidates for admission to ATS & CSS.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure client insurance is documented for electronic health record
* Complete all aspects of the admission process through the agency electronic health record
* Process Client’s clothes to prevent bed bugs and search for contraband
* Storing and securing Client’s clothes
* Orienting new clients to the facility
* Ensure the safety of resident’s (physical and emotional) well being
* Ensure that the program policies are followed and document any deviation of said policies
* Provide crisis intervention when necessary
* Assisting with discharging and escorting patients off the premise
* Utilizes universal precautions at all times, maintenance of CPR certification and understanding
of emergency procedures
* Supervise clients during admissions
* Clean spills as needed
* Provide supervision to clients during designated smoking breaks (Staff are not allowed to smoke with clients)
* Other duties as assigned including assisting if needed
* Keep the Admissions/Intake area clean
REQIREMENTS:
* If in recovery from alcohol or other substances you must have two year of continuous sobriety/ or life experience equal to two years in Substance abuse.
* Must have effective speaking, writing and good computer skills
* Personal characteristics of understanding, dedication, empathy and genuineness are essential.
* Must meet Massachusetts CORI requirements.
* Must possess a valid MA driver’s license.
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Working knowledge of 12 Step Programs.
* Must be a team player and work well in a challenging environment.
* Knowledge of laws governing confidentiality and rules of ethical behavior.
* Knowledge of or desire to learn Motivational Interviewing skills.
* CPR certification, and Nasal Narcan training.
