Position description
The Informatics Nurse works under the direction of an Informatics Nurse Specialist and/or within the scope of a project to deliver informatics solutions that support the practice from planning through full adoption. The Informatics Nurse works on design and use of informatics solutions that support the vision and mission of Mayo Clinic. They serve as a bridge between providers, nursing, other clinic departments and organizational groups, linking clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care.

The Informatics Nurse Specialist (INS) provides leadership, consultation, and direction for information technology that impacts clinical nursing information management from planning through evaluation. The INS is an expert in the design and use of informatics solutions that support the vision and mission of Mayo Clinic. The INS serves as a bridge between the Department of Nursing and other institutional groups, linking clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Nursing Informatics Practice, ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses provides the basis for practice.

Qualifications
Informatics Nurse
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in healthcare.

Informatics Nurse Specialist
Master's degree in Nursing, or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a Master's degree in healthcare-related field.
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in healthcare.

Additional qualifications
Informatics Nurse/ Informatics Nurse Specialist:
Minimum of three years clinical experience in healthcare preferred. Ability to develop effective working relationships throughout the organization. Demonstrated computer literacy with strong knowledge of software applications. Experience in training or teaching others. Strong project leadership, organizational and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral).

Internal applicants must attached last three appraisals.

License or certification
Current RN licensure in applicable state. ANCC National certification in Nursing informatics is highly recommended within two years of hire date.
