Thunderbird Metals is looking for experienced maintenance mechanics to join our 1st and 2nd shift Elk Grove Village operations.

Position Overview
The Maintenance Mechanics will need to have basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical industrial manufacturing maintenance.

Essential Functions

• Maintain preventative maintenance plans for production related equipment by using manufacturers’ manuals and identifying KPIs.
• Maintain facilities and supporting equipment such as boilers, heat treat ovens, air compressors, punch press’s, CNC lathes and Mills and make up air units.
• Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
• Identify issues and areas of improvement on production equipment and facility.
• Trouble shoot and program of PLC, Fanuc, ABB, and Siemens controls and other critical equipment.
• Work with vendors, contractors, and machine manufacturers on repairs, machine installations and other services.
• Complete repairs on equipment with high voltage, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Increase production by spearheading continuous improvement projects on multiple machines and processes through cell creation, PLC automation, redundant or excessive process elimination, robotics, conveyors etc.
• Sustain 5S and Kanban systems within the maintenance shop.
• Self-starter with the ability to work on projects without supervision.

Work Experience

Required Experience:

5 years or more

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Basic mechanical, welding and cutting skills
• Extensive mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Should be capable of reading mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic prints
• Good problem-solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality
• Have basic workbench and computer skills
• High knowledge of relay logic, AC/DC motor drives, PLC & SLC and motor control circuits
• Extensive knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing, and code books
• Repair knowledge of pumps, compressors, gear boxes and blowers

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Frequently required standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms
• Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
• Ability to use hand tools
• Ability to read applicable instructions
• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
