SWEEPER/CUSTODIAN

We are seeking a motivated Sweeper/Custodian for our Gallatin, TN location. The person we are looking for is energetic, success driven, and reliable. We need a Custodian that is experienced in housekeeping and janitorial duties. One who ensures that we maintain a safe and clean environment for all employees and customers. One who works well as a team member and meets or exceeds the company’s standards of ‘Safe Operations with Zero Harm’.

Insteel Wire Products, established in 1953, started from humble beginnings, embraces strong values, and has its Home Office in Mt. Airy, NC. We are the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed PC-strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement and standard welded wire reinforcement for concrete reinforcement applications. The company operates ten manufacturing facilities in eight states.

Position Snapshot

Schedule - 6:45pm - 7:00am Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights

You will organize, clean and maintain the supplies and appearance of the production plant. Cleaning machinery as well as general areas. This is not a basic housekeeping position, this is an industrial janitor for a manufacturing facility.

To perform well in this role, you will need to:

• Maintain proper housekeeping throughout plant
• Move hoppers with either forklift or overhead crane
• Properly use overhead cranes & forklifts.
• Ensure water is provided to all work areas during summer months
• Operate sweeper weekly
• Cleans around in and underneath machinery.
• Empty all trash containers within the plant and offices daily.
• Sweep with hand broom between all equipment and among all walkways.
• Dust handrails, cabinets, and plant cameras weekly.
• Know the location and can use any e-stop in the building in case of an emergency.
• Train others on job responsibilities.
• Maintain cleaning closet inventory, communicating with purchasing any required items.
• Other janitorial duties as assigned.

Qualifications to be considered for the role:

• To perform this job successfully and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 6 months prior janitorial experience.

$14.50 - $16.00 depending on experience plus bi-weekly “Teamshare Production Incentive”.

• 12 hour shift
• Every weekend
• Overnight shift
