Personal Care Attendant (PCA)
Job Summary
Provides homemaker and personal care services to elderly & disabled clients in their homes.
Works under the supervision of the Director of In Home Services.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities
- Provide homemaker services including but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, appliance care, running errands and laundering clothing, reading and writing essential correspondence for blind, illiterate or physically impaired clients.
- Provide personal care services including but not limited to: nail care, hair care, assistance with bathing and meal preparation.
- Maintain records of service delivery including time sheets, calendars and incident documentation.
- Report any problems related to a client or plan of care to supervisor.
- Attend monthly in-service meetings and complete 10 hours of continued training annually to meet state eligibility guidelines.
Job Specifications
- Education : High School Diploma or commitment to obtain GED. Consideration may be given to individuals who have not completed the educational requirements.
- Licensure :
- Experience : 6 months as paid homemaker, certified nursing assistant, maid, household worker or 1 year experience caring for children or sick or aged individuals.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills : N/A
- Interpersonal Skills : Good communication skills.
- Essential Physical Requirement : Ability to perform variety of cleaning tasks, mobility to negotiate a variety of obstacles in client homes. Ability to move and carry with proper body mechanics.
- Essential Mental Abilities : Assess problems related to care plan and report to supervisor or RN consultant. Read, write, perform a routine of tasks without constant supervision.
- Essential Sensory Requirements : Ability to assess needs of clients and their environments for which they are qualified.
- Exposure to Hazards : May be occupational exposure to blood or other infectious material as defined by OSHA.
- Other : Provide own transportation. Hours vary with availability of clients and their needs. Must be at least 18 years old. Upholds and acts in accordance with the homemaker care code of ethics in client relationships. Must be able to pass a background screen by Family Care Safety Registry and not be found on the EDL list.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
