Position: In-Home Aide
Lead: Registered Nurse Supervisor/Director
Program: In Home Care
Education/Qualifications: High School Diploma or credentials that are considered equal to a high school diploma, Completion of an accredited Nursing Aide program and registered with the Nurse Aide registry with the Division of Health Service Regulation and/or Board of Nursing or previous nursing assistant experience preferred.
Description of Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include assisting the impaired elderly and/or disabled with household duties and bathing, dressing feeding and vital signs if applicable. All services will be under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and /or Director. Other duties may include transfer to chair, meal preparation and light housekeeping.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support of personal hygienic care such as bathing, toileting, mouth care, teeth care, and transfers.
- Assistance with dressing
- Assist with meal preparation and planning.
- Assist with ambulation, getting out of bed to chair.
- Assist with shopping duties for client, picking up medications, etc.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties (cleaning, laundry, etc.)
- Provide emotional support in accordance with psychosocial needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in performance of assigned task.
- Assist with medication reminders. In home aides do not give medication to clients.
- Reporting any changes in the client’s condition
- Providing accurate and consistent information to clients and their families.
- Collaboration with agency team members.
- Light housekeeping duties related to client inclusive of but not limited to:
- Client meal preparation
- Cleaning kitchen area and utensils used for client meal preparation.
- Daily linen changes
- Laundry of articles used for or by the client.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and obstruction free client area.
