The Lead HVAC & Electrical Field Technician is responsible for supervising HVAC and Electrical Field Technicians who perform maintenance, installation, retrofit and repair of environment comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting and mechanical layouts. Will also perform the role of HVAC Field Technician as needed.

Job functions and duties (other duties may be assigned).

  • Responsible for training and developing HVAC & Electrical Field Technicians.
  • Supports HVAC & Electrical Field Technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance.
  • Ensures the quality of work by reviewing technicians’ work.
  • Assists in scheduling, organizing and dispatching HVAC Field Technicians.
  • Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
  • Serves customers by serving as a resource in answering inquires and responding to special requests.
  • Maintains supplies by conducting equipment inventories.
  • Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear, scheduling and completing preventive maintenance work.
  • Maintains vehicles by keeping record of service manuals, scheduling and completing repair and maintenance services.
  • Works with various Service Department employees to prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
  • Supports process compliance by monitoring completed paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Consolidates reference information by collecting, organizing and assembling data for reports, presentations, and/or special projects.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs equipment at customers’ locations.
  • Reads blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, power tools and computer software.
  • Evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service technicians, and assists in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.

Education and Experience

  • Preferred Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and/or Electrical
  • Five to ten years HVAC experience
  • Three years supervisory or lead experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have knowledge of various HVAC products, systems, electronics, and pneumatic controls
