HVAC Service Technician

Job Description:

Work directly under the field supervisor to provide demand service to CAPS Industrial and Commercial Customers. Primarily responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers.

Job Duties:

  • Perform start-ups, troubleshoot and repair various DX manufacturers and heat pumps.
  • Have the knowledge to occasionally install equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Knowledge on Class I, Div I & II applications.
  • Provide reports on equipment to the supervisor.
  • Travel to job sites and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
  • Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
  • Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
  • Obtain customer signature at completion of job.
  • Document all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
  • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.

Special Skills:

  • Low temperature applications
  • Ice machine experience
  • Control Knowledge

Certification Required:

  • EPA Certification
  • Texas Registration

Work Experience Required:

  • Five plus years in the Industry
  • Industrial experience
  • DX equipment up to 50 tons
  • Start-ups
