Under the direction of the Manager of Human Resources and the Director of Operations, the HOPICS Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including employee relations, investigations, recruitment, processing human resources paperwork, documentation compliance, and fostering healthy workplace practices throughout every department. The Human Resources Generalist must be able to relate to the Division's management team and effectively represent the agency in all professional settings.


E
ssential Functions:

  • Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations when necessary.
  • Assists with internal and external job openings and advertisement processes.
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conducts initial interview screenings and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate supervisors.
  • Assist with revamping and maintaining Jazz HR and HOPICS recruitment website page.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Assist with the preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and Ad Hoc reports.
  • Assist with processing required paperwork for new hires, separations, employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters.
  • Review, Revise, organize, and maintain HR computer files.
  • Assist with revamping and maintaining Jazz HR and HOPICS recruitment website page.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Three years of human resources experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • California Driver’s License, Proof of Car Insurance, and Reliable transportation.
  • Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Check.

  • The position is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, the noise level is usually high, exposed to highly aggressive clients, and the office environment is high-paced and diverse. Shelters may be only accessible in the evenings.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities the individual will be expected to perform include typically spending time sitting, standing, walking, driving, typing, thinking, writing, speaking caring (max 30lbs).

Mental Requirements

  • The mental activities the induvial will be expected to perform include must be able to handle any/all the following constant distractions, interruptions, uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules, and be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
