The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $24.05 to $30.03 per hour, based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position
As a Human Resources Associate, you will have an exciting opportunity to learn to exercise a fair amount of independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day work and solving personnel issues. In this role, you will specifically support the Human Services Department (HSD), where the team focuses on maximizing potential and providing support and resources for all stages of life. HSD partners with families and communities to encourage children to learn, invite youth and adults to cultivate professional skills, guide families to achieve financial success, enable seniors to live independently and develop our communities so they can thrive. While supporting HSD, this position is based in an administrative location in downtown Phoenix and allows a combination of work-from-home and on-site work.

We Require
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, organizational management, or a related field
  • Human resources-related experience may substitute for the minimum education on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
  • Interpret Human Resources policies and procedures and provide advice, direction, and information on a variety of routine human resources-related questions from employees and managers
  • Prepare complex and sensitive human resources correspondence, documents, and forms supporting personnel actions, position management, compensation, recruiting, and payroll
  • Coordinate the process for department hiring, onboarding, and offboarding activities while ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws
  • Participate in the implementation of HR policies, procedures, trainings, audits, and projects
  • Maintain records, spreadsheets, and reports for HR activities ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures
  • Respond to requests for information and assistance from employees, management, outside agencies, and the public
  • Serve as a backup for HR Analysts providing recommendations on a wide range of complex Human Resources issues, such as employee personnel management, selection, discipline, leave issues, and grievance resolution

Those selected will be assessed based on the evaluation of listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a list provided by Human Resources.
