HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Essential
SUMMARY - The Human Resource Assistant (HRA) aids with facilitating the human resource processes at all levels. This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between the employees and the insurance providers. The Human Resource Assistant resolves benefits-related problems and ensures the effective use of benefit plans and helps to foster positive employee relations. The HRA ensures that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. The HRA provides administrative support to human resources functions as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist employees with payroll and benefit questions and requests.- Handle employee benefit issues including follow-up with employees.
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Submit Worker’s Compensation claims within 24 hours of receiving First Report of Injury from employee or supervisor.
- Process FMLA, STD, and LTD requests.
- Maintain Required Benefit Notification Boards.
- Conduct motor vehicle checks for new hires operating School vehicles.
- Maintain Gilman drivers list and MVR records.
- Maintain Human Resources Canvas Page.
- Post jobs.
- Submit online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
- Assist with the preparation of the performance review process.
- Assist with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and respond with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Director of Human Resources.
- Make photocopies, mail, scan, or email human resources documents; and performs other clerical functions.
- Assist with or prepare correspondence, as requested.
- Prepare new-employee files.
- Organize new hire gifts and maintain inventory.
- Processes mail.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources.- Minimum of two years of payroll experience.
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to adapt to high-functioning situations, think independently, and manage time efficiently.
