Description:

Under limited supervision coordinate and manage the department's special events, communications, and electronic presence, with the goal of maintaining and increasing UIC's residential population. Maintain good public relations with students, families, university community and beyond while implementing our recruitment strategies through the events, services, web presence, and email correspondence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee Campus Housing events that will directly help recruit and retain students to Campus Housing (Hall Tours, Campus Housing Open House, Admissions Events, etc.).
  • Oversee on-site event implementation processes including tabling for admissions, orientation and other University supported recruitment events.
  • Manage electronic presence of Campus Housing (website content, email correspondence, social media).
  • Establish and manage procedures for event communication including independently handling or directing all inquiries pertaining to the events.
  • Create, communicate and manage events plus programs, to strengthen prospective residents’ engagement with Campus Housing.

  • Attend recruitment events both on-campus and off-campus to increase recruitment of campus housing residents.
  • Assess national student recruitment trends and implement within Campus Housing.
  • Hire, train, develop, and manage student staff to ensure the highest level of customer service. (Tour Guides)
  • Provide direct oversight of day-to-day departmental communications efforts including content management.
  • Advise students, parents and staff on housing matters via phone, fax, e-mail, web and in person.
  • Liaison with Orientation Services and Admissions to ensure guest management, tour relations and on-boarding of new students is seamless and organized.
  • Create and foster additional partnerships across colleges and university units to support individualized recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate and prepare reports of departmental interactions across media platforms.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

2. Any combination totaling six years from the following categories:

A) Housing, residential life, hospitality, business, or closely related work experiences.

B) College course work in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Hospitality Sciences, Business Sciences, Social or Behavioral Sciences, and/or related disciplines, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals six (6) months
  • 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
  • 120 semester hours or Bachelor’s Degree equals three (3) years
  • Master's Degree or higher equals four (4) years
