  • Trains and supervises Housekeeping staff to ensure the highest safety, room quality and productivity standards
  • Ensures proper training in MSDS and OSHA requirements
  • Appropriately schedules staff according to hotel occupancy, taking into consideration scheduled arrivals, departures and groups
  • Prepares and distributes daily job duty assignments
  • Clearly communicates established departmental service and performance standards; motivates, monitors, coaches and develops individual performance to successfully achieve standards
  • Effectively communicates service breakdowns, daily plans and other pertinent information to each shift, using team meetings, e-mail, information boards and other approved communication vehicles
  • Provides End of Shift Report and other updates at the completion of shift; reviews & acts accordingly on updates received at the beginning of shift
  • Conducts daily random visual inspections of guest rooms and public areas of hotel towers to ensure cleanliness and appearance standards are maintained
  • Responsible for the signing in and out of all keys, according to established procedure
  • Coordinates with Facilities to ensure prompt resolution of any reported deficiencies
  • Inspects rooms and public areas of hotel towers, ensuring highest level of cleanliness standards, prior to VIP arrivals
  • Immediately reports any safety concerns to management
  • Responds to and handles any guest issues, resolving to 100% guest satisfaction
  • Oversees and expedites special requests from the Front Desk
  • Interviews applicants and makes employment offers
  • Ensures fair treatment according to company policy and relevant collective bargaining agreement
  • Executes and issues notices of disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Responsible for timely staff evaluations
  • Responsible for staff and volume analysis and other reporting requirements
  • Completes special assignments as requested

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous housekeeping experience required; supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience working with chemicals and cleaning supplies and knowledge of MSDS and OSHA guidelines preferred. Experience with linen inventory control preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational, team building and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to converse, read and write in English required; additional languages helpful
