Hotel General Manager Job Summary
Manages hotel to ensure efficient and profitable operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Ensure total guest satisfaction
Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals
Establishes standards for personnel administration and performance, service to guests, room rates, advertising, publicity, credit, food selection and service, and type of patronage to be solicited.
Conducts orientation training of new employees to explain company policies and history.
Directs and coordinates promotion of services performed to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position in industry
Coordinates activities of departments such as housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk, to effect operational efficiency and economy
Allocates funds, authorizes expenditures, and assists in planning budgets for departments
Analyzes division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reduction can be made, and allocates operating budget
Confers with administrative personnel and review activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
Promotes organization in industry or trade associations
Requisitions supplies and equipment
Processes reservations and advance registration payments
Inspects guest rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance
Answers guests' complaints and resolves problems
Meets with prospective customers to determine their needs and set rates
Conducts staff meetings with all department heads to discuss company policies and guest complaints and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
Works with department heads and outside contractors on major renovations or work being done at the hotel
Wyndham Certification is mandatory
Involved in the day-to-day operation of the hotel at all levels
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees at the Front Desk, Administrative Office, Housekeeping, and Maintenance. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
