Position Summary:
Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Health Information Services Department to ensure appropriate hospital standards. Trains employees in the daily medical record functions of the department.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise Health Information Services Staff
- Educate staff on E H R
- Reviews and monitors work schedules, hours and daily assignments
- Management of productivity and monitoring quality.
- Works directly with subordinates, physicians and other employees of the hospital.
- Monitors physician delinquency
- Establish and implement any policies and procedures
- Evaluate performance and recommend merit increases and disciplinary actions
- Participates in performance improvement activities
Accountability:
- Reports to the HIM Director
- Supervises HIM staff.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in Health Information functions.
- Professional, verbal communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to interact with patients, families, physicians and all levels of staffing in an effective manner

- Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Sedentary (exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally)
- Standing/Walking: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time
- Keyboard/Dexterity: Frequently; activity exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time

Environmental Conditions:
Level: Medium
Hazards are minimal if safety precautions are utilized. Heavy work volume and high degree of accuracy required.
Exposure to serious error is present; data integrity, health information security/confidentially. May be required to work extended hours to meet critical deadlines. Travel may be required. Exposed to weather conditions during travel.
