CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
Assists backstage or behind the scenes for performances and events in a 1,200 seat theatre and an 11,340 square foot exhibition hall. Supports the special events and communications department at events and venues throughout the city.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
Duties will include, but are not limited to, event set-up, supervision of event, operation of equipment for events, and take down and cleanup after events.

Additional requirements for Audio Emphasis:
Must have experience mixing live sound for live theatre events including but not limited to:
- Must have experience in live, theatre-based production;
- Must have basic knowledge of modern lighting and audio mixing consoles.
- Must be able to work varied hours including evenings and weekends. Weekday availability is a plus.
- Must be able to work individually as well as part of a team.
Additional requirements for Audio Emphasis:
Must have experience mixing live sound for live theatre events including but not limited to:
- Musical theatre productions utilizing multiple wireless mics and live orchestra;
- Live music presentations utilizing multiple instruments, vocals and effects;
- Must be capable of setting up, operating and striking portable PA systems;
- Must be competent in use of Q-Lab multimedia playback software;
- Experience using network activated systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Applicants must have good communication skills and be able to effectively follow instructions from supervisors
- Experience with mixing large musicals, musical acts, analog and digital audio consoles, QLab, etc.
- Must be a self starter and eager to learn new things
- Must have backstage experience in a live entertainment venue
- Be capable of lifting 60 lbs
- Ability to work varied hours, based on event schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Possession of valid Illinois driver's license required
- Must submit to and pass background process, including fingerprinting, dmv review, drug test, physical
- Candidates will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to hire and must receive any CDC recommended COVID-19 vaccine booster shots as needed. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hours: Based on event schedule. Will include weekends and evenings. Approximately 10 hours per week.
