North American Aggregates (NAA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Weeks Marine, Inc. , is a leading supplier of aggregates for the construction, infrastructure, transportation and redevelopment of industries in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area. Their Perth Amboy, New Jersey facility is centrally located, with immediate access to major transportation networks making both land and water deliveries possible via trucks and barges.
NAA products include concrete sand, asphalt sand, pipe sand, fill sand, septic sand, certified NJDOT soil aggregates and other clean and structural fills. Their products meet ASTM, AASHTO, CTDOT, NJDOT, NYNJPA, NYSDOT, and USGA standard specifications.
Job Description
A Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating, inspecting, and repairing heavy equipment used such as bull dozers, loaders excavators, stacking equipment and other construction equipment.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate heavy equipment in a safe, effective manner using required and/or established safety procedures
- Inspect equipment for proper function prior to operation
- Diagnose any malfunctions or problems with the equipment
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
- Monitor equipment performance for proper operation
- Handle materials, equipment, or supplies
- Follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment
Qualifications
- 2+ years of industry related experience preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week M-F, overtime as required
- This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language
Certifications/Licenses
- Driver’s license
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit.
- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted
