Health Aide Job Description
The Health Aide is responsible for the general health care of students. The Health Aide will accomplish these duties while working with students, parents, other teachers and staff.
**
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide timely basic first aid, monitor illnesses and injuries, and notify the School Nurse of concerns.
- Contact 911 in emergency situations.
- Record daily log of use of clinic and daily duties.
- Prepare medications for field trips under the School Nurse’s direction.
- Record and update health concerns, medication, and emergency information in student information systems and health files.
- Assist the School Nurse in providing staff with student health concerns and emergency information as necessary and appropriate.
- Support all K-12 health room needs, including, cleaning clinic, maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, compiling and preparing reports.
- Collect, track and update immunization records within Infinite Campus to enforce state immunization requirements.
- Organize and complete vision and hearing screens on students as required by the state. Enter data into student health files.
- Act as mandatory reporter under mandatory reporting law.
- Communicate consistently and effectively with students, parents (after consulting with School Nurse), and colleagues to develop a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect.
- Serve as a member of the school’s Emergency Response Team.
- Assist office staff with daily responsibilities, including, attendance, student checkouts, administrative assistance, as time allows.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in healthcare, working with school-age children, or a combination thereof.
- Documented training in specific content areas, including, Diabetes, Diastat/Seizure, Allergy/Epi-Pen, AED training, Safe Lifting & Transferring, and other job-specific training as needed within 60 days of hire.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Commitment to implementation of Character Education and Positive Behavior System.
Skills and Abilities
- Read and interpret documents such as rules, policy and expectation, agreements, rubrics, scope and sequence documents, and assessments.
- Ability to interface with parents, students, and staff to provide continuity of care for students.
- Understand and carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form and use sound judgment.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate different tasks.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self motivated.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The employee is required to talk, walk, stand, stoop, crouch, sit and hear.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (assisted or unassisted).
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to focus.
- Provide backup assistance and coverage for other areas.

- Work may occasionally be performed outside with exposure to varying temperatures.
- This position includes contact with students, staff, Administrators, Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors and parents.

- This position reports to the School Nurse and Administration.

Hirining Salary Range: $19.00 - $21.3
