About the Role
Responsibilities
- Establish a holistic vision and strategy on how to grow people at Valon
- Be a business driver and partner with other business leaders to build, support, and communicate with our high-performing teams across three (and potentially more) offices aligning with Valon's business strategy
- Be a trusted advisor on critical business decisions including org design, planning, change management and challenging people scenarios
- Serve as a thought partner to anticipate and lead the change required to scale and evolve our teams as we grow
- Coach business leaders and their directs to support their development as effective leaders for the organization
- Architect the L&D program alongside operations to enable both a smooth and consistent onboarding experience for all hires
- Work alongside the Talent team and partner with the Head of Talent to deliver strategic talent programs and provide day-to-day support
- Lead efforts in ever-evolving people strategies such as performance management, org planning, engagement and retention, compensation and total rewards, employee relations, DEI, and succession planning
- Leverage metrics & analytics to inform and measure success and influence change
- Lead the verticals owning People practices, policies, HR compliance, and workplace experience
- Be a vocal champion of fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce and culture of belonging at all levels of the organization
- Support People processes across the calendar year and effectively communicate changes to the ever-developing company
Ideal Background
- Previous tech startup experience that experienced hyper growth and scaling challenges or previous experience at large tech or financial institutions with many complexities
- Experience working within a tech and operational organization with exempt and non-exempt individuals employees
- Strong working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including workforce planning, org design, onboarding, performance management, compensation, employee relations, employment law, training and development (L&D)
- Experience leading, developing, and expanding teams of HR professionals
- Sophisticated coaching and problem-solving skills, indexing high on emotional intelligence and communication
- Strong understanding of industry trends and best practices, as well as a deep understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements including thorough knowledge of employment law
- Data savviness to recognize trends and themes, and partner with the business to deeply understand needs and design and implement solutions
- Ability to be highly-productive and influential in a fast-paced environment and balance longer-term strategic initiatives with more immediate priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years' relevant HR experience with a proven track record overseeing the Human Resources department, an L&D department, or as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner
- Track record of successful partnerships with business functions and talent organizations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of empathy
