The Head of Organizational Capability & Transformation for Corporate Functions will partner with our Corporate Functions business and People & Culture leadership, as well as the global OC&T & Learning COEs to define the required end-state organizational capabilities to execute strategy, as well as defining and executing the multi-disciplinary capability plan to get there.

The successful candidate will be experienced in identifying the capabilities and associated operating models, that are best able to execute and deliver a strategy. They should demonstrate strong analytical skills, able to use both quantitative and qualitative methods to identify gaps between the current and future states and be a strong collaborator with business and other functional leaders (such as people partners, strategy, people analytics, talent, learning) in identifying aligned plans to address any future capability needs.

In addition to building capability strategies and plans, they will have foundational experience executing across several disciplines that build capability. While core tools and practices will be defined and supported by the OC&T & Learning COEs, the candidate will be comfortable undertaking activities such as target operating model design, strategic workforce planning, organizational & team effectiveness, culture & change management, or competency/skills and learning portfolio design.

Main responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of People, CF & Europe, the incumbent will be a key member of both the CF People & Culture Leadership Team and the Organizational Capability & Transformation COE. This will allow them to access and leverage the expertise of the OC&T COE, in support of the business’ needs, while also ensuring the voice of the customer is heard in the design and development of COE products and services.

The key activities of this role will include:

  • Defining the core capabilities and associated plans for the GF:
  • Partnering with business leadership to develop a fully understanding of the business strategy, competitive landscape, risks and opportunities.
  • In partnership with business and P&C leaders, defining the required organizational capabilities needed to win, and deliver this strategy.
  • Using both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify and define any key capability gaps.
  • Partnering with business, P&C and COE leaders, to identify any shifts in operating model to strengthen the required capabilities – such as:
  • Organization Design

  • Skills Definition & Taxonomy (in partnership with the COE)

  • Strategic Workforce Planning, translating in to buy (TA or M&A), build (Learning), borrow (Talent/EWF), bot (Digital) talent decisions

  • Core Processes & Ways of Working

  • Leadership & Culture shifts

  • KPIs and rewards/incentives (in partnership with Rewards & Performance)

  • Ownership of core activity in the capability plan, related to the scope of OC&T:
  • Target Operating Model Design

  • Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Organization Design

  • Update of Skills Taxonomy (where functional owner, or in partnership with the functional owner, e.g. Capability Head)

  • Partnering with Learning/Talent to update and align Learning Portfolios and define 70:20:10 career journeys

  • Change Management and Implementation

  • Organization & Team Effectiveness

  • Acting as Project Lead on key cross-functional capability projects, in partnership with P&C peers and pulling on the resources and expertise of the OC&T COE as needed (e.g. People Analytics, Learning, Organizational Consulting).

Additionally, this role will be an active member of the OC&T COE community:

  • Participating in regular COE meetings hosted by the Head of Organizational Capability & Consulting (dotted line manager), as well as broader strategic OC&T forums where needed.

  • Ensuring that the “voice of the customer” is heard in the creation of OC&T strategies and plans.

  • Playing an active role in the design of global tools, practices & methodologies.

  • Acting as the change & implementation lead to ensure the relevant deployment of any global processes/products being launched across Sanofi.

  • Acting as a first point of contact for the Transformation Office, to help identify & track high-level transformation activity at an enterprise level.

  • Being an active participant in the OC&T community, sharing best practices across peers supporting other GBUs & functions.

  • Staying abreast of both internal and external innovations and advances within the discipline of organizational capability and transformation, contributing to the expertise & intellectual capital of the function.

As Head of Corporate Expertise Learning Institute, the incumbent will lead the recently created Corporate Expertise Learning institute. At the core of this role will be the opportunity to define a common narrative across the functions

about how to best support the business (Technical expertise). As well as how this translates into clear, high impact and quality L&D solutions for our experts and for all of Sanofi.

The successful candidate for this role will have the following key responsibilities:

Clarify the narrative for CELI as a core capability at Sanofi; Promote global strategy based on SWP output Define and govern CELI skills taxonomy (competencies) and ensure no duplication with other LIs (One Sanofi) Oversight & prioritization of upskilling/reskilling plan, including learning solutions by academy, to address and remediate key gaps identified by SWP Oversight and decisions to maximize investment for Sanofi – within the CELI Academies/function, and also with broader Sanofi University Council Monitor effectiveness of learning & development Plan and run monthly CELI governance meetings

  • Review membership of governance

  • CELI membership currently composed of GF Academy leads

  • Use monthly meetings to set-up and drive project plan for launch, and conduct initial governance

  • Design and execute CE Learning Institute team structure and organization – clarifying what Academies exist for specific skills Drive learner engagement strategy (executed through Academies and/or local engagement plans)

  • Partner with Learning COE to maximize the learner experience Develop a global communication strategy connected to the CELI launch (with the COE Global Comms Lead)

Qualifications

About you

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required. MBA or advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 12 years of professional business experience is required.

Strategic systems thinker: comfortable participating in strategic planning processes, and able to understand and identify critical drivers of business strategy. You are able to make structure out of the noise, and frame complex problems in to the key disparate parts.

Planner: expert at identifying and clearly articulating capability plans.

Assessor: Experienced in designing and executing capability assessments using quantitative (e.g. surveys design and interpretation) and qualitative (e.g. interviews, focus groups, facilitated workshops) methods.

Skilled in several disciplines that build/elevate organizational capability, such as:

  • Target Operating Model Design

  • Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Organization Design

  • Identification of skills/competency models

  • Learning Journey & Portfolio design

  • Change Management and Implementation

  • Organization & Team Effectiveness

  • This position may require up to 30% business travel

Consultant: you are able to use adept questioning to get beyond symptoms to root causes; able to identify, separate and synthesize the key points that matter out of the noise; able to tailor complex messages to different audiences; a pragmatic problem-solver who is able to imagine the possible, and make it practical.

Collaborator: you are able to lead without authority, and facilitate agreement on paths forwards with teams, to create coherent alignment towards end goals. You operate without ego, and believe that while you can go fast alone, we go further together.

Executor: you bring strong execution skills and are comfortable deploying differing methodologies depending on what works best – classical waterfall project/program management, or agile cross-functional sprints.

Coach and Advisor: you help others amplify their thinking, by providing constructive and objective advice, inspiration and challenge.

Education: ideally Bachelor´s degree or higher

Languages: fluency in English required
