Groups/Individual Counselors - Residential Treatment Programs Job at Gavin Foundation

JOB TITLE: Individual and/or Group Counselor
REPORTS TO: Program Director
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide individual and group counseling. Provide education and counseling in specialize area of public health concerns. Responsible for maintaining the safety of residents and facility and provide understanding and direction to the clients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ability to provide MI based individual and group counseling
* Ability to provide accurate and timely documentation of individual/group counseling sessions
* Formulate individual treatment plans with client input.
* Attend weekly individual supervision, and bi-monthly staff meetings.
* Ensure that the program policies are followed and document any deviation of said policies.
* Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
* Assist program manager in the delivery of rehabilitation services when appropriate.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
REQIREMENTS:
* Must have effective speaking and writing skills.
* Knowledge of laws governing confidentiality and rules of ethical behavior.
* Ability to work with others.
* Personal characteristics of understanding, dedication, warmth, empathy and genuineness are essential.
* Must attend in-house trainings and other professional update/educational seminars as assigned.
* If in recovery from alcohol or other substances you must have two year of continuous sobriety.
* Must meet Massachusetts CORI requirements
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Certification or working toward s certification as LADC I or II is desired, but not required.
* Working knowledge of 12 Step Programs
* Knowledge of laws governing confidentiality and rules of ethical behavior.
